1. Before Applying
Get to know the University of Guelph-Humber
The University of Guelph-Humber offers six undergraduate honours bachelor’s degree programs. Explore your program options and available scholarships to find the right fit for your goals. Attend an event or webinar, take a virtual tour, or email us directly with your questions.
To be considered an International Transfer Applicant:
- You currently live outside of Canada, and
- You have a degree, diploma or coursework from a recognized university or college outside of Canada
As an applicant with previous postsecondary education, you will be evaluated based on completion of your high school credential and all completed postsecondary studies.
There are specific high school subject requirements per program. You may have completed the equivalent of these subject requirements through college or university coursework, which will be determined through a review of your transcripts once you apply.
Note: If you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or landed immigrant who fits the above criteria, we highly recommend that you have your international credentials evaluated prior to applying to determine how your credentials will be recognized in Canada. Credentials can be evaluated through World Education Services (WES). Please submit a WES or ICAS Course by Course evaluation and ensure that you add the University of Guelph-Humber as a recipient to your file once you make an application to the University of Guelph-Humber. Fees for the credential evaluation may apply.
English language requirements
If your first language is not English, or you have completed less than four years of study in English at the secondary (or postsecondary) level, then you are required to provide proof of English proficiency. Test results must be less than two years prior to your application. Please refer to our chart of accepted tests/scores.

Option 1: University of Guelph International Online Application
We encourage you to use this application page if you are applying to only one Ontario university (that would be us!), because you pay a reduced application fee of only $95 CAD in addition to a $95 document evaluation fee.
International Online Application
The application is hosted on our partner's (The University of Guelph's) website. This special application page uses the Ontario Universities' Application Centre to process single international applications for the University of Guelph-Humber.
Option 2: Ontario Universities' Application Centre
We recommend using the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (ouac.ca) website if you are planning to apply to more than one university in Ontario.
When you apply through the OUAC website, the $156 CAD application fee allows you to apply to three programs/universities. You pay $50 CAD for each additional program/university in addition to a. $95 CAD credential evaluation fee also applies.
- Getting started: You will create a user profile on the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre website to start the application process.
- Choose your program: University of Guelph-Humber programs are listed under the University of Guelph section of the OUAC application. You can use the OUAC program code to help you find a program.

- Rank your preference: If apply to more than one program as a transfer student, you can expect to receive only one offer of admission from the University. Only in the event that you are not admissible to your highest choice will your next choice be considered. If you want to reorder your U of GH program rankings, please amend your application on the OUAC website.
Submit required documents
Admission Services will contact you regarding the documents required, once your application is received.
Official graduation certificate from secondary school
You must request all college/university (in-progress and final) transcripts and high school transcripts to be sent to international@guelphhumber.ca from your school administrator/counselor. We encourage you to send interim transcripts as early as possible to assist with your admission consideration. If needed, you may request the originating institution(s) send your official transcripts in a sealed envelope directly to the University.
Official post- secondary transcripts (required)

You will receive an email with detailed instructions (after you apply) if you are required to demonstrate English proficiency as part of your application.
Education Declaration (may be required)
You can find the Education Declaration online. It is a form provided by the University to document your academic history. You will be notified on your WebAdvisor account if we require this form.
3. After Applying
Check your email!
We’ll send you an acknowledgement email so you know your application has been received.
You will get an email with a user ID and password to WebAdvisor and Gryph Mail. Use WebAdvisor, our online student administration system, to check your list of required documents and monitor what has been received. Set up your Gryph Mail to receive official emails from the University regarding your application and documents.

Make sure your documents have been submitted
Log in to WebAdvisor to check your list of required documents and monitor what has been received. Please check this account often. Send in all required documents by the deadline indicated in your WebAdvisor account. If you have received an offer of admission and have questions about documents, please review our FAQ page for international students.

4. After Accepting
Fulfill the conditions of your offer
Congratulations on your Offer!
Welcome to the University of Guelph-Humber (U of GH) family! Your offer will appear on the OUAC account you used to apply.
You will also receive an offer email from us that will detail you’re the estimated amount for your international student entrance scholarship, conditions of your offer, our transfer credit assessment and a Visa Authorization document that you will need to support your study permit application. We encourage you to confirm the offer earlier in order to have enough time to begin the study permit process.
Transfer Credit
Transfer applicants will have credit reviewed on a course by course basis from recognized institutions. Please note that course sequencing for our programs is very structured each semester. Although you may receive transfer credit towards your degree, a required course may not be offered until a specific semester, which may result in a longer degree completion time.

Begin the study permit process
International students may need a Study Permit and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) to study at the University of Guelph. To attain these documents, please follow the steps below. Please note the University of Guelph/Guelph-Humber designated learning institute number is (DLI) O19305391192. U of GH is not a public-private partnership.
- Verify you need a PAL: After you accepted your offer, review the Government of Canada website to ensure you are required to submit a PAL.
- Pay the tuition deposit: International students are required to pay a tuition deposit of $2,000 CAD by the deadline noted below. Methods of payment can be found on our website.
Deposit deadline:
September 2024 entry = June 15, 2025 - Verify your address: The address provided for your PAL should be where you currently live and what you will use on your study permit application. After you accept your offer of admission, your address will be sent to you by email for confirmation
Upload your documents to WebAdvisor
WebAdvisor is your tool for course selection, finances, and more. You will become more familiar with this as you prepare to join us this fall. Login information was/will be emailed to you shortly after accepting your offer of admission.
- Visit the ‘My Documents’ page on WebAdvisor.
- Upload the following two required documents:
- A scanned copy of your passport (called "Passport Verification - PAL")
- Confirmation of deposit being sent (called "Deposit Verification - PAL") - Confirmation of deposit being sent from step 4 (called "Deposit Verification - PAL")

Wait for next steps
Once your documents are received, U of G will begin the process to issue a PAL. You will be notified by email once it’s ready for you to download from WebAdvisor.
Apply for your study permit
Once you have received your PAL, you will have all of the required documents to complete your study permit application. It is important to apply for your Study Permit and Coop Permit as all programs have mandatory workplace experience. Please note that we do not offer a formal co-op program. Your Co-op Work Permit will list the employer as “University of Guelph-Humber” and will allow you to work for any authorized work placement.
Immigration and Pre-Arrival Support
As a University of Guelph-Humber student you have access to the University of Guelph’s Global Pre-Arrival Support (GPS) Advisor is a central point of contact for new international students from the moment you receive an offer of admission through to your first semester.
The GPS Advisor can help you to:
- Navigate the university system;
- Explain and clarify immigration and institutional policies;
- Describe the overarching expectations of students; and
- Facilitate connections with other campus or community supports, resources or services.
Students with an Offer of Admission should monitor their email for additional updates and event invitations from the GPS team. Learn more and book an appointment on the Student Experience website.
Apply for residence
If you have received an offer of admission, you are eligible to apply for residence.
International students are guaranteed residence accommodation in their first year of studies. The application process is a two-step process that can take a few days to complete because you need to wait for step 1 to be processed before you can complete step 2.
Please do not leave applying for residence to the last minute.

Deferrals
You may request a deferral if you have accepted your offer of admission into a University of Guelph-Humber program but are unable to begin your studies for your entry semester. A fee applies.
As an alternative, you may consider studying part-time by taking a reduced course load and enrolling in less than 2.00 credits (four courses). Before doing so, we recommend you:
- Contact your Academic Advisor to understand the impact of course selection and course sequencing.
- Contact Student Financial Services to discuss the potential impact to the conditions of your scholarship, OSAP and other funding.
- Visit the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website to determine the impacts to your study/co-op permit and contact an International Student Advisor at the University of Guelph.
To be considered for a deferral you must:
- Accept your offer of admission by the deadline noted in your offer letter.
- Meet all conditions outlined in your Offer of Admission by the deadline noted on your offer letter.
- Submit the deferral application by the deadline.
- Not attend any other postsecondary institution during the deferral period.
Deferral application process
- Complete the application. For applicants who applied for fall entry, the deferral application is available June 2, 2024 through WebAdvisor under the “Applicant” menu. To access WebAdvisor, you will need your central login information (sent to you via email). You must submit the application form and the $90 fee by the deadline as indicated.
For applicants who applied for winter entry for Business, you have to request a deferral application from Admission Services via email. - Applications are considered on a rolling basis for students who satisfy the conditions of their offer. Once we have considered your application, we will communicate the decision to you by email.
- If you submit a deferral application and later choose to withdraw that application to begin classes in 2025, please email Admission Services.
- If you are granted a deferral, you will receive a new Offer of Admission for your new entry point.
Authorization required to study in Canada
In your offer package, you will receive an official Offer Letter and visa information sheet that will support your application for Canadian Immigration Documents. It is important that you apply for your Study Permit and Co-op Work Permit as soon as you receive your digital offer package. More information can be found on our Study Permit page.
Vulnerable Sector Check/Screening
If you are entering into first-year Early Childhood Studies or are a transfer applicant that has a placement/internship starting in your first semester at the University, you may be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check/Screening before your placement/internship begins.
