Year Representatives

What are Year Representatives?

Year representatives are student volunteers that help promote the society to students in their program. Typically, they represent academic years that are not covered by the society’s executive team. They may also support the executive team with society activities.

Year representatives are more involved than society members, but maintain a lesser time commitment than society executives. This is a great way for students to get more involved in a society, especially if they’re considering applying for an executive position in future years.

Selecting Year Representatives

Each year, the executive team should decide if they would like to have year representatives, and if so, how many they will need. As this is a society activity, it must be included in the Semester Activity Plan (SAP). Consideration should be given to how the opportunity will be fair throughout the recruitment and selection process: advertising to students, the application process, and the criteria for selection. Societies may wish to create a grading rubric. The society staff advisor is available to provide guidance.
