Tuition, Fees and Residence Costs
Billing and payments are completed on a semester basis rather than annually. In an effort to spread out the financial burden, payments are required at the start of each semester instead of having to pay the entire amount all at once at the beginning of the school year.
Online payments will take three business days to reach our office. Please verify on your WebAdvisor (after 72 business hrs) to ensure payment has been received and keep a copy of your transaction record.
Tuition and fees are calculated based on the selection of academic program, course load, cohort year, citizenship, room and meal plan selection and parking and lockers if required. These fees (tuition and fees, registration deposit) are due by the semester deadline date posted. Students' accounts may be viewed through WebAdvisor. The University does not issue printed bills or statements.
Tuition fees are assessed based on your assigned cohort year. Cohort year refers to the academic calendar year for your first admission to the university OR the calendar year for subsequent admission to a new program or readmission to the same program or a new program.
Undergraduate students are billed tuition based on their status in the University’s records as one of the following:
- Domestic Ontario student
- Domestic Non-Ontario student
- International student
Eligibility and Definitions
Domestic Ontario Students
You are considered a Domestic Ontario student if you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Ontario is the most recent province where you have lived for 12 months in a row prior to being a post-secondary student. You must not be considered a resident of any other province.
- You are a dependent student, and the primary residence of your parent(s), stepparent(s) or legal guardian is in Ontario (i.e., Ontario is the most recent province where they have lived for 12 months in a row). If your parents/stepparents are separated or divorced, this requirement applies to the parent or stepparent with whom you normally reside.
- You are married, and the primary residence of your spouse or common-law partner is in Ontario (i.e., Ontario is the most recent province where your spouse or common-law partner has lived for 12 months in a row).
- You are eligible for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
Domestic Non-Ontario Students
You are considered a Domestic Non-Ontario student if you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, and you do not meet the definition of a Domestic Ontario student.
An appeal form will be available before the start of the fall semester for students who have been billed the Domestic Non-Ontario tuition rate but can provide documentation of their eligibility for the Domestic Ontario rate.
International Students
International students are defined as non-Canadian students who do not have "permanent resident" status and have had to obtain the authorization of the Canadian government to enter Canada with the intention of pursuing an education.

Tuition Fees and Academic Course Load
Tuition and fees are dependent on how many credits a student is registered for in each semester.
Full-Time
The normal full-time semester load for each academic program is 2.50 credits except where otherwise prescribed by the schedule of studies. Students registered in 2.00 credits (or more) in any given semester are considered full-time and will be charged full-time tuition and fees.
Students who have a continuing or permanent disability, which requires a reduced course load (2.0 credits) may be eligible for an accommodation of "per-credit tuition billing".
Part-Time
A student who is registered in fewer than 2.00 credits in a semester is considered part-time and will be billed based on the credits they are registered in for that respective semester.
Deposits
Registration Deposit – FALL SEMESTER ONLY
In order to ensure retention of the courses you select or to be able to add and drop courses for the registering semester, all students are required to pay a minimum non-refundable registration deposit of $500 by the registration deposit deadline. Your Non-Refundable Registration Deposit will be applied to your student account. All previous outstanding balances must be paid first or the $500 will be applied to the outstanding balance and will not be considered as a non-refundable registration deposit. Please review your account on WebAdvisor and consult the preferred payment methods for the registration deposit.
Failure to pay the non-refundable registration deposit will result in:
- Blocked access to course selection for the registering semester.
- De-registration (the removal of courses as a result of not meeting payment requirements and deadlines), which will free up spaces in those courses that other students can then select.
Please note: All students must pay the $500 Non-Refundable Registration Deposit by the registration deadline, regardless of funding sources, e.g. OSAP, RESP, scholarships, etc.
Where do I see my Registration Deposit?
- The $500 registration deposit is NOT an additional charge and will NOT appear on your student account as an outstanding balance.
- If you have an outstanding balance from a previous semester the $500 payment will be applied to the outstanding balance and NOT applied to the registration deposit.
- The registration deposit will appear as a payment on your account and reduce the amount owing on your Fall bill.
- The $500 registration deposit is required to protect you from deregistration (removal from courses) of your Fall semester.
- If you are deregistered from your courses, you will need to pay the $500 registration deposit before you can reselect your courses. Please note: there is no guarantee that you will get the same schedule or courses.
- The registration deposit is non-refundable, if you drop/withdraw from the fall semester.
- Online/bank payments can take 1 to 3 business days to be received on your student account. Payment must be on your account to protect your registration.
International Deposit
New international students are required to pay a non-refundable tuition deposit of $2,000 CAD by June 15, 2025 for those students starting in the fall 2025 semester. This deposit is only required for your first semester. Please consult the preferred payment methods for paying your deposit. This deposit is not an additional fee – it will be applied to your tuition balance.

International Health Insurance
International Health Insurance (UHIP)
The International Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) is a mandatory insurance to pay the cost of the hospital and medical services that international students may need during their stay in Canada while registered at the University. The fee is compulsory, and it is charged as part of your tuition and fees which can be viewed on WebAdvisor.
The insurance fee is pro-rated based on the semester you begin your studies, i.e., September, January or May. The health care insurance is a basic package that is subject to change on an annual basis. It is important to emphasize that not all health conditions are covered.
Review Your Coverage
International students are strongly urged to review their coverage information and purchase additional insurance coverage as appropriate. If you have any questions, please contact the Humber College International Office.
This health insurance coverage is for international students only. It does not include spouses or children. If you have a spouse and/or dependents, you may wish to pay a supplemental fee and purchase insurance. Arrangements for adding family members are made directly with Morcare, our health insurance provider. The option to add family members will not be available until the start of the semester. A link will appear on the landing page (https://wespeakstudent.com/home/11-humber-and-guelph-humber) for a limited time.

Compulsory Ancillary Fees
Alumni
Alumni and Advancement keeps the University of Guelph-Humber community strong and connected. University of Guelph-Humber alumni can access perks, benefits and discounts in a wide range of service areas including insurance and travel.
The Alumni fee supports communication and networking opportunities for alumni. The Alumni office secures benefits and services for alumni including discounted travel, theatre, sports and attraction tickets. This fee also supports Guelph Humber graduates helping Guelph Humber graduates through industry and graduate networking opportunities.
Athletics and Recreation
Supports the operational cost of athletic programs, equipment and services, and provides athletic and recreational services to students, including fitness and casual recreation opportunities through virtual programming as well as potential on-campus activities in accordance with public health and safety guidelines.
Career Services
Career Services supports students in career exploration and employment preparation by providing resources such as a job and placement web portal, resume review/tutoring, interview preparation, job search strategies, career fairs and networking events.
IGNITE - Career & Future Skills
Funds support of students in their job search while providing resources related to career development, networking and relationship-building to ensure their success.
Student Buildings
The Student Building fee supports new construction and/or improvements to the existing physical infrastructure for non-academic spaces/buildings and informal learning spaces.
Humber Athletics
Supports new construction and/or improvements to the existing physical infrastructure for Athletics and recreation facilities.
IGNITE - Membership Fee
Funds reliable support and access to services and initiatives as well as spaces where possible in accordance with public health and safety guidelines.
IGNITE - Advocacy & Leadership
This fee contributes to the training of elected student leaders that represent and advocate for the Humber and University of Guelph-Humber student body when it comes to institutional and government decisions that impact students.
IGNITE - Well-being & Financial Security
Supports programming to educate students on how they can improve their life through resources and initiatives that address both physical and mental health and safety.
Health and Counselling
The Health Centre fee supports student health, well-being and academic success by facilitating on-campus access to health and wellness professionals. Specifically, this fee helps off-set the cost of operating Health Services, which include health education, mental health support, addiction and cessation programming, and access to nurses, psychologists, and mental health nurses.
IGNITE
Provides access to healthy lifestyle essentials such as a pay-what-you-can soup bar and menstrual kits. In addition, the fee supports a wellness speaker series to educate students on how they can improve their life through resources and initiatives that address both physical and mental health.
Academic Support
The Academic Support fee provides programs that support both a successful academic start and continued academic success. Programs supported by this fee include online and in-person orientation, year-long transition support, Math and Writing Centres, online and in-person research support, and peer tutoring opportunities.
IGNITE
Supports an on-campus resolution clinic that guides students on ways to address and dissolve academic conflict. In addition, the clinic educates and helps students resolve personal conflict that may be impacting their academic experience.
This fee also funds the publication of the student handbook that outlines academic resources, non-academic resources, and codes of conduct for students on campus.
Information Technology
Supports the development of enhancements to technology services outside of the classroom for students. These services include: increased virtual support for online services and learning; access to Microsoft and other professional/academic software (remotely and on campus); mobile application support for WebAdvisor, GuelphHumber Email, and Humber TV; and wireless network access and maintenance across campus as well as enhanced internet performance.
Student ID Cards
Used to generate and maintain student ID cards required by students for integration and connection to campus services, both virtual and in-person. In addition, these cards may be used to verify identification for exams or other testing.
Student Achievement and Records
The Student Achievement and Records fee supports the costs for the planning and implementation of convocation ceremonies. Costs covered by this fee include regalia, venue, equipment and furniture rentals, food, staffing and security.
Campus Safety
The Campus Safety fee gives students access to programming that promotes the safety, security and well-being of all students. Services and program delivery include the campus walk program, Humber’s Guardian safety application, sexual violence prevention and awareness programming, consent awareness, conflict resolution, and emergency communications management to ensure the safety and security of students, employees and visitors.
