It’s almost time! Everyone’s hard work and dedication have led to this momentous milestone - convocation!

Convocation is a time for celebration, it’s an opportunity to come together as a community to honour our students’ success and achievements.

The Convocation Ceremony

The Marshals will provide you with instructions prior to processing into the Convocation Hall. You will be lined up in alphabetical order and by academic program. Marshals will do their best to escort latecomers into the lineup, but you risk not being in proper alphabetical order if you arrive late. The Marshals will lead you into the Convocation Hall and guide you through each part of the ceremony.

Alumni Reception

Immediately following the ceremony, all graduates and their guests are invited to join the Alumni Reception! Enjoy our photo zones, ring the UofGH Bell to symbolize the transition from student to alumni, and visit our on-site vendors. We have two additions to this year's celebration

Indigenous Medallions: Graduates who self-identify as Indigenous can receive a medallion from the Indigenous Education and Engagement table at Convocation. The medallion can be worn at Convocation to display pride in their history and culture. The medallions acknowledge the graduates’ accomplishments and underscore the importance of the tradition of gift giving to Indigenous peoples.

Legacy Family: Graduates from legacy families can stop by the table to receive a special pin and take a photo with their family. A UofGH Legacy Family consists of two or more alumni from any program or graduating class that are related. This includes parent/guardian and child, siblings, cousins, and extended family.

Following the reception, please return your gown and hood to the designated Gown Return Area. Your grad cap is yours to keep!
