The University of Guelph-Humber’s Study Abroad program whisks students around the globe to learn about new cultures, histories and people. This year, the students documented their trips along the way and submitted more than 50 eye-catching photographs of their adventures as part of the 2017 Study Abroad Photo Challenge.
A winning photo was selected from each trip for a $50 prize, while the grand prize winner, Xheni Lila, took home an iPad.
Lila, a fourth-year student in Early Childhood Studies, called the visit to Thailand "one of the best trips of my life," with highlights including being blessed by a monk in Chiang Mai and visiting Phi Phi Islands. The winning photo was taken in Phuket during one of the group's last nights in Thailand.
"I love palm trees and the sunset was so beautiful, I just had to take a picture," Lila said. "It wasn't until after the picture was taken I realized there was a couple in the picture."
