1. Before Applying
Get to know the University of Guelph-Humber
The University of Guelph-Humber offers six undergraduate honours bachelor’s degree programs. Explore your program options and available scholarships to find the right fit for your goals. Attend an event or webinar, take a virtual tour, or email us directly with your questions.
International secondary school applicants:
We welcome applicants from secondary schools around the world. To be considered for admission, you must fulfill the following criteria:
Admission Requirements by Country
Review the secondary school graduation certificate which would admit a student to an internationally recognized university in your home country is normally acceptable for admission. We begin to consider applicants with a minimum score of 70% including program specific requirements.
Subject requirements
As an international applicant applying from secondary school, you should include your senior level courses and specific subject requirements for the degree you wish to apply to.

*If applying to Business Administration or Kinesiology and you do not have the senior level math, conditional offers can be made based on enrolment in one of the following Ontario grade 12 math courses: MDM4U, MHF4U or MCV4U at ontariovirtualschool.ca
English language requirements
If your first language is not English, or you have completed less than four years of study in English at the secondary (or postsecondary) level, then you are required to provide proof of English proficiency. Test results must be less than two years prior to your application. Please refer to our chart of accepted tests/scores.

2. Applying
To be considered an International Secondary School Applicant you must:
- Live outside of Canada and
- Be attending a secondary school outside of Canada
Note: If you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or landed immigrant who fits the above criteria, you will be assessed based on the admission requirements for the country where you are completing your secondary education and must follow the application process below. However, you will be eligible for domestic (Canadian) tuition and scholarships.

How to apply
- University of Guelph International Online Application
We encourage you to use this application page if you are applying to only one Ontario university (that would be us!), because you pay a reduced application fee of only $95 CAD in addition to a $95 CAD evaluation fee.
- International Online Application
The application is hosted on our partner's—The University of Guelph's—website. This special application page uses the Ontario Universities' Application Centre to process single international applications for the University of Guelph-Humber. - Ontario Universities' Application Centre
We recommend using the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (ouac.ca) website if you are planning to apply to more than one university in Ontario.
When you apply through the OUAC website, the $156 CAD application fee allows you to apply to three programs/universities. You pay $50 CAD for each additional program/university. A $95 CAD credential evaluation fee also applies.

Choose your program
University of Guelph-Humber programs are listed under the University of Guelph section of the OUAC application. You can use the OUAC program code to help you find a program on the OUAC website, also.

If you apply to more than one program at the University of Guelph-Humber and you have never attended postsecondary studies, you will be considered for all programs to which you apply. - Common App
If you are applying to the University of Guelph-Humber in addition to American colleges, you may apply through Common App
A $90 USD non-refundable application processing fee is required of all high school for high school applicants in addition to a $95 CAD evaluation fee. Common App gives the option of a fee waiver; however, we will not waive the application processing fees.
Getting started
You will create a user profile on The Common App website to start the application process.
Add the University to your My Colleges list
After completing the application questions, select the College Search tab and search for the University of Guelph. Please note that there is no specific mention of the University of Guelph-Humber on this website. All Guelph-Humber programs are listed under the University of Guelph.
Choose your program
All University of Guelph-Humber programs are at the bottom of the list, following University of Guelph programs. If prompted to select a major, select the default option.
3. After Applying
International secondary school applicants are assessed throughout the admissions cycle, and you are encouraged to explore the pathways below to ensure your application is on-track.
Submit your required documents
After we receive your application, you will receive login information and instructions to upload documents to your Admission Portal. Submit the appropriate transcripts and other required documentation by the deadline. Please only submit the documents that are noted on your portal.
Examples of required documents include:
- Secondary school transcript, in progress
- Secondary school transcript, finals
- School profile (if required)
- Examination results
- English proficiency test scores, as required. IELTS scores may be scanned and verified on-site. All other test scores must be sent officially.

Official transcripts
You will need to arrange to have your final official transcript sent by email to international@guelphhumber.ca directly from your school or through a credential verification organization, where applicable (e.g., Parchment, World Education Services), to Admission Services
Check Your Admissions Portal
Please continue to check your Admissions Portal to track your application status and upload documents. Admissions decisions are made within 3 weeks of submission of all required documentation.
4. After Accepting
Congratulations on your Offer!
Welcome to the University of Guelph-Humber (U of GH) family! Your offer will appear on your Admissions Portal and will detail an estimate of your entrance scholarship, conditions of your offer and a Visa Authorization document that you will need to support your study permit application. We encourage you to confirm the offer earlier in order to have enough time to begin the study permit process.

Begin the study permit process
International students may need a Study Permit and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) to study at the University of Guelph. To attain these documents, please follow the steps below. Please note the University of Guelph/Guelph-Humber designated learning institute number is (DLI) O19305391192. U of GH is not a public-private partnership.
- Verify you need a PAL: After you accepted your offer, review the Government of Canada website to ensure you are required to submit a PAL.
- Pay the tuition deposit: International students are required to pay a tuition deposit of $2,000 CAD by the deadline noted below. Methods of payment can be found on our website.

January 2025 entry = December 15, 2024
September 2024 entry = June 15, 2025 - Verify your address: The address provided for your PAL should be where you currently live and what you will use on your study permit application. After you accept your offer of admission, your address will be sent to you by email for confirmation
Upload your documents to WebAdvisor
WebAdvisor is your tool for course selection, finances, and more. You will become more familiar with this as you prepare to join us this fall. Login information was/will be emailed to you shortly after accepting your offer of admission.
- Visit the ‘My Documents’ page on WebAdvisor.
- Upload the following two required documents:
- A scanned copy of your passport (called "Passport Verification - PAL")
- Confirmation of deposit being sent (called "Deposit Verification - PAL") - Confirmation of deposit being sent from step 4 (called "Deposit Verification - PAL")

Wait for next steps
Once your documents are received, U of G will begin the process to issue a PAL. You will be notified by email once it’s ready for you to download from WebAdvisor.
Apply for your study permit
Once you have received your PAL, you will have all of the required documents to complete your study permit application. It is important to apply for your Study Permit and Coop Permit as all programs have mandatory workplace experience. Please note that we do not offer a formal co-op program. Your Co-op Work Permit will list the employer as “University of Guelph-Humber” and will allow you to work for any authorized work placement.
Immigration and Pre-Arrival Support
As a University of Guelph-Humber student you have access to the University of Guelph’s Global Pre-Arrival Support (GPS) Advisor is a central point of contact for new international students from the moment you receive an offer of admission through to your first semester.
The GPS Advisor can help you to:
- Navigate the university system;
- Explain and clarify immigration and institutional policies;
- Describe the overarching expectations of students; and
- Facilitate connections with other campus or community supports, resources or services.
Students with an Offer of Admission should monitor their email for additional updates and event invitations from the GPS team. Learn more and book an appointment on the Student Experience website.
Apply for residence
If you have received an offer of admission, you are eligible to apply for residence.
International students are guaranteed residence accommodation in their first year of studies. The application process is a two-step process that can take a few days to complete because you need to wait for step 1 to be processed before you can complete step 2.
Please do not leave applying for residence to the last minute.
