UofGH Justice Studies appointment of Laura MacDiarmid

The University of Guelph-Humber is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura MacDiarmid as our new full-time faculty member in the Justice Studies program. 

Laura, who is completing her PhD in Sociology at the University of Guelph, brings a wealth of knowledge to our Justice Studies Program and will further enrich our student academic experience. 

Her PhD focuses on victim experiences in Youth Justice Committees, a program model of restorative justice. Her research interests include community justice alternatives, punishment and the sociology of emotions.  

Laura also holds a Master of Criminology degree from the Ontario Institute of Technology (Ontario Tech University) and an Honours BA in Sociology and Criminology from King’s University College at Western University. 

Author of numerous peer-reviewed research publications, she has taught sociology at Fanshawe College and been a lecturer and field supervisor at King’s University College. Laura also brings experience from her applied work in the youth justice sector and community engaged research. 

Laura’s appointment commences July 1, 2021.
