Dr. Leslie Stefanyk has been appointed Program Head of the University of Guelph-Humber’s Kinesiology Program.
Vice-Provost, Dr. John Walsh: “Dr. Stefanyk is an exceptional educator, practitioner, and administrator. Her research experience is as extensive as the field itself.”
Her current research at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto centres on behaviour change where it concerns exercise. With the hospital’s Electronic Living Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Cancer Survivorship Research (ELLICSR), Dr. Stefanyk is working with cancer survivors to see how a mix of behavioural interventions like health coaching, together with activity tracking devices and smartphone health applications can increase a survivor’s physical activity.

Prior to this appointment, she held the position of Assistant Program Head, Kinesiology.
“As Assistant Program Head, Dr. Stefanyk has shown unwavering dedication to the needs of today’s kinesiology student, given the significant evolution of this field,” says Dr. Walsh.
Dr. Stefanyk is a Registered Kinesiologist and Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Brock University, a Master of Science in Community Health Science from Brock University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph. She has taught at both Brock University and at the University of Guelph.
The appointment began July 1, 2015.
