Dave Kydd has been named Assistant Program Head of the University of Guelph-Humber’s Family & Community Social Services Program.
“He brings invaluable field experience to UofGH, in particular with community mental health organizations, having worked both at the frontline and at the managerial level,” says Paul Sherman, Program Head of FCSS. “Our students will benefit from Mr. Kydd’s expertise and particularly from the breadth of his background.”
“The FCSS program is one that confirms the University’s equal balance of both academic and applied learning. His diverse background, in both postsecondary education and in the field, brings a true understanding of this dual focus,” says Sherman.
Mr. Kydd’s prior field experiences include various settings and diverse populations. He’s worked in child protection with the Children’s Aid Society, he’s provided counseling to adolescents, couples and families, and has worked in outpatient mental health in hospital settings.
“As a counselor, I’ve been privileged to help people create a meaningful future for themselves. I would help them to find their passion, develop their skills, find strengths, and build their sense of confidence,” says Mr. Kydd.
He continues: “It’s something I’ve always enjoyed, and it’s what I look forward to providing to our students, as well.”
“I’m thrilled to be able to be a part of our students’ success.”
Dave Kydd obtained his B.A. from the University of Ottawa, his B.A. Honours Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, and his M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto.
