Remembering Professor Brian Wetstein

Guelph-Humber building

We report with sadness that former University of Guelph-Humber professor Brian Wetstein has recently passed away. Dr. Wetstein, who was one of UofGH’s first professors, had faced health challenges for some time and retired from teaching in 2014.

After completing his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Guelph in 1994, Dr. Wetstein began teaching at the University of Guelph. When UofGH opened in 2002, he began teaching here as well. Dr. Wetstein taught philosophy courses, such as “The Examined Life”, and Media Studies courses on the ethics of media.

“Brian was an excellent scholar and dedicated teacher who helped shape UofGH’s early years,” says Assistant Vice-Provost George Bragues. “He left a mark on many of our students and will be sorely missed.”

A graveside service was held in Toronto for Dr. Wetstein.
