It’s just a few days before the University of Guelph-Humber closes its doors for the holiday break, giving our students, staff and faculty time to recharge before the start of the next semester.
As the temperature dips and the year comes to a close, we decided to check in and see how the people of UofGH are spending their time off.
First of all, I’m going to relax after a long semester, take a break for a while and gather myself back up. I want to spend some time with my friends and enjoy the vibe of the city around Christmas. Maybe we’ll go to Nathan Phillips Square for some ice skating.

My fiancé and I are going to Niagara Falls, because that’s where we’re from. We’re going to see family, not the Falls, because it’s our hometown. We’ll have dinner with his family and then my family, but we’ll avoid Clifton Hill.

I’ll be busy applying to graduate schools over the next couple weeks. I’m looking at ones that delve into the theory behind media studies — I feel like I have a good grasp on the technical aspects, but I’d like to extend that farther, and learn to be a little more innovative.

I have two young children who are 8 and 5, so most of my time will be spent keeping them entertained and distracted. We’ll have typical Jewish Christmas, meaning we’ll go for Chinese food and see a movie. Beyond that, we’ll spend lots of time outside and enjoy the warm weather, though we’re hoping for snow so I can take the kids sledding.

Since exams have been stressful, I’m going to catch up on my sleep. Then, I’m going to drink lots of coffee so I can stay up all night and catch up on my favourite TV shows. Besides that, my family is planning a Christmas party at my grandma’s house and I'm going to see some Bollywood movies at the theatre.
