Students at the University of Guelph-Humber get a mix of theoretical and hands-on learning, combining time in the classroom with time in the field. At the Standing Ovation Field Partner Appreciation event, UofGH showed its gratitude to the places that make it possible.
More than 100 of the University’s partners from schools, agencies and businesses were recognized for supporting UofGH students in their field placements and internships. These opportunities show students what it’s like to work in their field, introducing them to real-life challenges they’ll face in the working world. At the on-campus reception, those partners were in turn introduced to the University of Guelph-Humber. Amid drinks and hors d’oeuvres, partners were given a tour of campus and its facilities while they met with faculty and staff to learn more about getting involved with UofGH.
“Each of our field partners deserves thanks for helping make UofGH an innovative place to learn,” says Susan Thomas, Manager of Career and Placement Services. “This year, we wanted to show our appreciation while also showing where our students come from. When they come to field placements, they come with skills they’ve learned on campus. This gave us the opportunity to show where those skills come from.”
