Applications from Ontario secondary school students to the University of Guelph-Humber have risen by 11.3 per cent this year, more than double the provincial growth average.
Furthermore, the number of students who listed UofGH as their “first choice” in applying jumped roughly 18 per cent. That’s significantly higher than the provincial average increase of 2.6 per cent, according to the numbers released by the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre.
“We are delighted to see an 11 per cent increase in our applications this year, not to mention an 18 per cent jump in being named applicants’ first-choice,” said Dr. John Walsh, vice-provost, University of Guelph-Humber.
“These results speak to the excellence of our instructors, staff and our four-year honours programs, which are based on the integration of theory and practical education in the classroom.”
Applications to the University of Guelph were also up by almost 10 percent. Across the province, 464,233 total university applications represented 4.9 per cent growth.
“The growth in applications to UofGH reflects the high quality of our programs, faculty, staff, students and alumni,” said UofGH registrar Grant Kerr.
“We are glad prospective students are taking notice of our focused academic programs, our close-knit community, and our track record creating opportunities for experiential learning and field-placement experience.”
