2016 Emerge Media Awards

Guelph-Humber building

The best of Canadian student journalism and communications was celebrated at this year’s Emerge Media Awards. At a gala event in Toronto’s Rose Garden Banquet Hall & Convention Centre, exceptional work in fields like videography, audio storytelling, public relations and more was recognized and awarded.

“The EMAs are a celebration of communication,” says UofGH’s Media Studies Program Head, Jerry Chomyn. “There was a tremendous amount of talent among our entrants this year and these awards encourage and reward all of their hard work.”

Though the Awards are administered by the University of Guelph-Humber, deliberation is conducted by an independent panel of judges. This year’s panel was comprised of 49 editors, broadcasters, producers and other media professionals from across the country, who altogether received 147 entries among the eight categories

After dinner and a keynote address by Buzzfeed Canada’s Founding Editor Craig Silverman, the awards were announced.
