New Collaboration with San Diego Family Justice Center Announced
University of Guelph-Humber’s Psychology Department is pleased to announce a new and exciting international collaboration, which will further research on complex trauma – an issue gaining increasing attention within in the field.
The San Diego Family Justice Center – the first center of its kind in the United States – provides multidisciplinary services to adult and child victims of family violence and abuse. One of its subsidiary agencies, The San Diego Center for Counseling (SD-CC) specifically provides comprehensive psychological treatment and assessment to these victims. The SD-CC has been allotted funding towards psychological research focused on trauma.
Dr. Julie Goldenson, Assistant Program Head of Psychology, has been appointed as Co-Director of Research at SD-CC, in partnership with her San Diego colleague, Dr. Francesca Lehman, who is a forensic psychologist and expert witness. This collaboration will allow unrestricted access to an extensive and rich data set, thereby continuing to further the University of Guelph-Humber’s commitment to research, and providing students with additional opportunities to hone their skills and gain research experience, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and make meaningful contributions to the field.
