Celebrating UofGH’s alumni

Guelph-Humber building

In a sleek wood-panelled venue in Toronto’s King West neighborhood, University of Guelph-Humber alumni celebrated a milestone. Each summer, former students get together to celebrate their years on campus, but this time, there was something different. Mixed in among the grads was the Class of 2011, who gathered to mark their five-year reunion, as well as the Class of 2006, celebrating UofGH’s first ever 10-year reunion.

The Class of 2006 came to campus when UofGH had only just opened. Numbering around 200, those first students helped set the tone for the young campus’ culture and student life, creating clubs and organizations that continue today.

In a night filled with food, drinks and old friends, alumni got the chance to revisit their time at school and meet the many other grads present. During the festivities, two alumni were recognized with awards.

Agha Ahmed, Business’09, was presented with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, an award meant to recognize and thank alumni who have demonstrated loyalty and commitment to their alma mater through significant volunteer leadership.

Andrew Kaszowski, Media Studies ’06, received the Alumni Award of Achievement, which celebrates a grad who has achieved distinction in their field and whose integrity and ability has inspired the UofGH community. The award is granted to individuals who bring honour to UofGH, who have made outstanding contributions to their community, profession, or industry, or have attained a high level of achievement through scholarship, teaching, research, and other creative contributions.
