Current Volunteer Opportunities:

The University of Guelph-Humber Alumni Ambassador Council

The University of Guelph-Humber (UofGH) Alumni Services is accepting applications for eight alumni from all programs to support annual initiatives in promoting student and alumni engagement. Applications are extended for alumni volunteers from Early Childhood Studies, Justice and Public Safety, and Media & Communication Studies.

This volunteer role will work with Alumni Services to:

  1. Represent the interests of the alumni population.

  2. Promote opportunities for lifelong relationships and professional networking.

  3. Encourage communication among alumni and within the University community.

Alumni Services at UofGH serves a diverse population since 2006, with over 16,000 alumni that continue to grow annually. As Alumni Ambassadors, you will work together to support in-person and online events. Building the UofGH community experiences through strong communication and involvement.

Passion for UofGH

  • Ability to foster relationship, passionate about UofGH
  • Has an established online presence with connections to other UofGH alumni

The ability to gather feedback and provide innovative insight

  • Able to share your experiences with students, alumni, and the greater university community

Responsibilities

  • Each Ambassador is encouraged to attend as many events as possible, with a minimum of two events in addition to the annual reunion that is held in Fall.
  • Be prepared to participate fully in meetings and initiatives including events with agreed upon roles and responsibilities outlined in consultation with the Alumni Services Team.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of the University of Guelph-Humber.
  • Commitment to the advancement of the UofGH community.
  • Ability to meet time commitment and length of term.
  • Commitment to the role of the Alumni Ambassador with specific academic program knowledge.
  • Ability to work with a diverse alumni population and other university stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the organization and team dynamics.

Term of Office and Time Commitment

Term of Office: One Year – July through to June

Eight Ambassador positions available

Time Commitment

  • July – Initial Ambassador meeting.
  • Aug – Online one on one communication for upcoming academic cycle.
  • September – Future Alumni and Recruitment or Student Life Social Media connection.
  • October – Reunion – All Ambassadors attend.
  • November – Giving Tuesday, Thank you Thursday.
  • January – Mentorship Networking Event.
  • March – GradFest and Last Lecture.
  • June – Convocation, Final Ambassador meeting.
  • Attendance at University and alumni functions as required.
