Graduation
Convocation ceremonies at the University of Guelph-Humber are held in June. This is when degrees and diplomas are conferred to students who successfully complete programs as prescribed by the university. It’s a celebration for graduating students, their supports, and the entire university community.
How to Act
Convocation is a time for celebration, it’s an opportunity to honour your success and achievements with faculty, peers, and family. But this event is a shared experience, how you act and behave impacts others. We ask that you help create a positive atmosphere by choosing to celebrate in a respectful manner.
Before you’re officially a Guelph-Humber Grad, here are some additional things to remember to ensure Convocation is a positive and safe experience for everyone:
- You must bring your University of Guelph-Humber Student ID card or valid government-issued photo ID in order to check in at the Toronto Congress Centre.
- All graduating students are required to wear only official University of Guelph-Humber academic gowns and hoods at their ceremony.
- If you are a First Nations, Inuit or Métis graduate you may opt to wear your cultural regalia, in lieu of the academic gown, for convocation ceremonies.
- You may NOT carry any articles into convocation including purses, flowers, coats, phones, flags, signs etc. during your ceremony. Please leave them with guests, in your vehicle or at home.
- Pins, sashes, stoles, cords or accessories are not a part of the University’s approved academic regalia and may not be worn over academic regalia during ceremonies.
- Any attire promoting hate or violence, including racism of any kind will not be permitted.

Once you check in and have picked up your gown, you will be asked to remain in the event space.
