James MacDonald has been teaching in the Media Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2013. He has also taught for Sheridan College and Conestoga College. In addition to his work as an educator, MacDonald is the Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Ornge, where he is responsible for overseeing communications, community and government relations functions for Ontario’s provider of air ambulance and related services. Prior to joining Ornge, MacDonald spent more than a decade in television journalism working as an anchor, reporter, producer and editor for a number of Canadian television news outlets, including CBC, CTV, CP24 and CHCH Television, as well as a three year term as CNN International’s Hong Kong-based Features Producer for the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr. Adam Miller has been the Assistant Program Head of Media Studies at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2019. Before transitioning to the University of Guelph-Humber, Dr. Miller was the program coordinator for the Digital Communications, Film & Multiplatform Storytelling, and Content Strategy Programs at Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus. With a PhD in Communication and Culture from York and Ryerson Universities, Dr. Miller’s early research was concerned with evolving digital storytelling technologies and their impact on the relevance and versatility of the transmedia narrative, an interest that precipitated a number of speaking engagements at innovative institutions like the VIA Film and Transmedia School in Denmark.  More recently, he has become interested in the multiplatform model’s applicability in the context of postsecondary education.  To that end, Dr. Miller is currently pursuing an additional doctorate in Leadership and Higher Education at the University of Toronto, with a research agenda that targets shared virtual learning spaces characterized by interactive modelling components.

Mina Momeni has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since winter 2014. Momeni, an educator and an interdisciplinary artist based in Toronto, has taught photography, visual and performing arts and media practices and has developed curriculums for college, undergraduate university, and online courses. Momeni is currently a PhD candidate in the communication and culture joint program at York and Ryerson University and her research interests are new media, visual culture, philosophy of technology and digital technology in art practices. Momeni has participated in various group and individual exhibitions in North America, Europe, and the Middle East and her articles and photographs have been published in various media publications. Momeni obtained her BA in photography from the Azad University of Tehran in 2000 and an MFA in documentary media from Ryerson University in 2013.

Kimberley Noble has been teaching in the Media Studies program at University of Guelph-Humber since 2008.

The start of Noble’s teaching sojourn at UofGH coincidently corresponded with the watershed year in which the mass media landscape was forever changed by a global financial crisis and the launch of the smart phone.

Noble’s goal as an instructor is to provide undergraduate students with both the critical perspective and practical tools with which to understand, navigate as well as to improve the world shaped by these seismic events. Noble comes to teaching with degrees in English, Fine Art and Journalism and two decades experience as a staff writer at The Globe and Mail and Maclean’s magazine.

She has written for most of Canada’s well-known publications and was awarded several reporting and writing awards including two first-place National Newspaper Awards for Business Reporting. Noble is working on an MA thesis in narrative structure at York University, work, that was presented to the Standing Conference on Organisational Symbolism at Sapienza University of Rome in July 2017.
