Lara Harb has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since Fall 2021. Harb is a media professor and documentary filmmaker with an MFA in Documentary Media from Ryerson University. She founded The Social Media Artist, a digital marketing agency that helps artists and small businesses develop their online presence. She also worked as a project manager, social media strategist and ads specialist for various industries from medical to hospitality.

Gavan Howe has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2015. Howe focuses on the lived experience Media Studies learners will embrace as they move from media scholar to media/marketing practitioner. Howe’s research specialty is risk, specifically occupational risk bearing, a condition where highly trained subject matter experts are placed at risk of harm due to circumstances beyond their control. Howe has spoken in Canada and US on his research on risk mitigation has been widely published in: IEEE Journal, VocEd.edu.au, ESAsafe.com, Daily Commercial News, Distributor Magazine, Building Strategies, The Dialogue (OEL), Electrical Business Journal, Journal of Commerce, and the London Free Press. Howe will defend his doctoral dissertation on occupational risk bearing in June 2020.

Dr. Kamaldeep Kaur has taught in the Media Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2019. Dr. Kaur holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Computer applications from Guru Nanak Dev University. She completed her PhD in Information Technology in 2018 at Amity University. Dr. Kaur carries a teaching experience of more than 12 years. She has written several research papers in International Journals. Her interests include data science, software testing and web design.

Greg Kelley has been teaching at the University of Guelph-Humber for over 10 years. Kelley specializes in folklore, humor studies, narrative, and other forms of mediated popular culture. He has published widely on media-related topics of folklore and popular culture. He is the recipient of the GHSA Staff/Faculty Award in Media Studies in 2010, the Faculty Appreciation Award in 2012, and the Faculty Mentoring Award in 2015. Formerly the President of the Hoosier Folklore Society, editor of *Folklore Forum* and *Midwestern Folklore*, he now sits on the editorial board of *The Journal of Folklore Research*. Kelley’s current research interrogates the fluid interplay between production and audience reception, between forces of cultural domination and cultural resistance. He explores the ways in which folklore operates as a mechanism of intervention—or resistance—in that interplay.

Gregory Klages has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2009. His research focuses on 20th-century Canadian cultural and political history. Klages’ research on Canadian cultural policy has appeared in the anthology Mapping Nations, Locating Citizens (Humber, 2017), the Asian Journal of Canadian Studies, Canadian Historical Review, and Saskatchewan History. Klages is also the author of The Many Deaths of Tom Thomson: Separating Fact from Fiction (Dundurn, 2016), which has appeared on the National Post bestseller list for Canadian non-fiction, and the Writers’ Trust of Canada’s list of Best Books of 2016. His work on Tom Thomson has also appeared in the anthology Archives & Canadian Narratives (Fernwood, 2011), and in the American Journal of Canadian Studies. In 2007-8, Klages served as Research Director for “Death On A Painted Lake: The Tom Thomson Tragedy,” a book-length web site produced by the international award-winning Great Unsolved Mysteries in Canadian History project.

James Kuo has been teaching in the Media Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2019. In addition to his responsibilities as a design educator, James is a professional graphic design practitioner with experience in corporate visual identity, design management, design production, digital and visual communications, graphic design, photography, typography, user experience, and user interface designs on both digital and print media. James completed his BFA in Communications Design at the Pratt Institute in New York with an emphasis on Graphic Design and Art Direction, and an MFA in Design from the School of Visual Arts, New York. His award-winning work has been published in Designedge Canada, Print, Communication Arts and Graphic Design USA. James is registered and certified with the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada and a member of the Board of Directors for the Evaluation and Certification Committee of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers in Canada.
