Marina Sadovsky started teaching at the University of Guelph-Humber in fall 2019. Sadovsky is a Senior Tax Manager at KPMG LLP, in the Enterprise group, specializing in taxation of private companies and Estate planning. Sadovsky is passionate about education and introducing the subject of taxation to students. Sadovsky ​​​is also a group study facilitator for the CPA In-Depth Tax Course.

Dr. Farkhanda Shamim has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since Fall 2019. She currently serves the institution in the capacity of Assistant Program Head of Business. Dr. Shamim possesses a wealth of academic and research experience and her academic career spans for more than 20 years, during which she has worked in various institutions around the globe including the University of Toronto, Japan’s Kobe University and Nagoya University, Int’l Islamic University in Islamabad, University of Bahrain and Ryerson University. Dr. Shamim has authored several research articles, which are published in high impact journals such as the Journal of Economic Studies. She is also a winner of many research grants and scholarships. Dr. Shamim was invited to a dialogue with the President of Nagoya University, Seiichi Matsuo at which they named her the Ambassador of alma mater, GSID. She is also awarded three shields at the University of Bahrain for her active involvement in the college administration.

David Shelton has been teaching at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2005. Shelton is a senior marketing problem-solver who brings to the classroom over 25 years experience as a consultant, entrepreneur and educator.

He has created and managed some of Canada’s largest and most decorated integrated marketing programs for companies such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Petro Canada. As the former National Director of Promotions and Special Events for Shoppers Drug Mart, Shelton was responsible for directing programs for over 440 franchisees. In his senior management roles for some of Canada’s leading agencies, Shelton developed and executed advertising and promotional programs for top marketers such as Hewlett-Packard, 3M, Ford and American Express Leisure Travel.

Shelton holds a graduate degree in communications from Boston University. He has conducted marketing planning seminars for the tourism industry. As an entrepreneur, he founded two technology startups (IVR & B2B Web Concept) and took the lead in all aspects of business planning, strategic alliances and VC funding. He also co-founded R2B Global, a joint venture with the University of Abertay, Dundee in Scotland.

Mark Stoiko joined the University of Guelph-Humber in 2013. Stoiko possesses a commitment to lifelong learning, student success, and academic excellence. To that end, he uses a learning-centeric approach to teaching and includes role playing, simulation and case studies in the classroom. Having operated a business, Stoiko has strong leadership experience and the ability to adapt to changing environments. Volunteerism remains Stoiko’s passion. He presently volunteers at Humber College’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, capstone course mentoring as well as Entrepreneurship Community of Practice. In 2016, he received the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award and The Dorothy Ley Hospice and the Community Recognition Award. As volunteer faculty at the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Stoiko was recognized with an Award of Recognition.

Dr. Aliraza Talebi has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since Fall 2018. With a diversified background in business and finance, Dr. Talebi has worked in both supply chain management and investment areas. Dr. Talebi possesses financial and quantitative skills, including the ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statement and to apply them in investment and financial areas. As a researcher, Dr. Talebi is eager to discover new things and wishes to become more intellectually engaged in stakeholder management, financial markets, and investment. Dr. Talebi has  always been passionate about teaching and interacting with students and that’s why teaching has been a major part of Dr. Talebi’s professional life. Dr. Talebi is focusing on being a dynamic and effective faculty member along with providing management consultation to firms and industries.

Michael Tam has been teaching in the Business program at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2018. He teaches Audit and accounting-related courses for the University of Guelph Humber and Trent University. He obtained his CPA, CA after joining Grant Thornton LLP and writing the UFE in 2014. After becoming Assurance Manager, he has since transitioned his career into a full-time realtor in Toronto while lecturing on a part-time basis. He has lived, studied, and worked in France, Australia, and Canada. In his spare time, he enjoys staying active, motorcycle rides, reading, photography, and traveling.

Scott Van Wagner has been teaching at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2008. Van Wagner is a marketing strategist with strengths in strategic planning, digital marketing, and communications. He has taught sales and marketing courses at several universities as well as digital marketing, general marketing management, marketing planning & implementation, advanced marketing, marketing strategy, consumer behavior, and sales management. Van Wagner has performed a variety of roles throughout his career, including authoring— Think, Plan, Prosper – How to Create Successful Marketing Plans in the Digital Marketing Age, entrepreneur, general manager, lecturer, marketing consultant, product management, sales representative and service director. His combination of practical hands-on experience as a small business entrepreneur and extensive experience in large corporations is invaluable in understanding the many marketing issues faced by businesses today.
